About Me

Born in Vinaròs, I used to indulge myself with delicious paella every Sunday and the calm and warmth of the Mediterranean Sea. Now it is more about barbies and trying to surf the waves of the Tasman Sea. I’m living in Melbourne, land of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation.

My interest in science sparked when I was taught the meiotic process for the first time. Amazed by what cells can do I studied Biotechnology in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. My research journey began with the Master in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease in the Radboud University of Nijmegen. This was a fantastic experience that set the ground for my PhD at IRB Barcelona.

During my PhD in Raúl Méndez laboratory, I investigated the implications of posttranscriptional gene expression reprogramming for epithelial homeostasis. Specifically, I unveiled the role of the RNA binding protein CPEB2 in mammary gland development and breast cancer. Our findings were summarised in this press release.

I am currently a postdoc in the laboratory of Jane Visvader and Geoffrey Lindeman, where I work on understanding the complexity of breast tissue microenvironment. With my research I aim to contribute to the development of better treatments for breast cancer patients.
